WIP Wednesday

It's almost noon here, and I just woke up a few minutes ago. I'm not entirely sure how it happened, so sorry for the delayed posting; I should really start doing these in advance again. :)

I don't have much progress to report on The Sandman's Apprentice other than to say that I've started draft #2. I seem to be basically re-writing it so far. I'll copy a paragraph from the first draft and put it a few lines down to remind me of what's happening at this point in the story and then I just write it all over again. A few things change, the prose gets tightened, and I make it more realistic and flow better.

My chapter breaks are changing. A chunk that was 2,200 words is now 1,200 and is so much cleaner and more realistic. I love turning a great story into an actual book. There's nothing like knowing that what you're working on is (going to be) publishable material.

So that's where I'm at, going a little slower than I'd like. How are things with all of you?

That's exactly how I did it with my novel. I rewrote that thing 1 1/2 times. Keep up the good work!

I'm doing pretty good. I'm doing research for a few additional ms ideas and writing out synopsises for them. I write psuedo linearly, so my wip has stalled for the moment. I'm just not sure where I want to go next.

Some things just take longer than we always anticipate!!!

I'm doing well, just finished up my second novel and now I'm giving it the resting period I know it needs. Turns out 3 days of rest was a lot easier than I thought. I have my guide books in hand and I'm ready to start revisions!!

Work's crazy (60-hour weeks for the next month) and my husband's sick with a wicked flu, so my writing has taken a back burner (that IS the idiom, right? I'm so tired), but hopefully I'll escape to Oz or Neverland or Rivendell or Narnia or...

I'm slowing down a little bit, but maybe because I'm so close to the end. Ugh.

I'm glad to hear you're still working on it!

I hit 10k on my new WiP last night. That's 2 days of work. I'm having such fun with it!!

That's a great place to be! I'm more than halfway in a heavy revision of a book that should have been query-ready but, alas, I realized it could be better. So I took it back to the drawing board. Sigh. They tell me whatever's worth doing is worth doing well so ....

That's got to be a good feeling! Feeling like you're getting close to publishing material is something I see in the far distance for my wip. But, at least I'm not giving up on it!
