Blargh.

I didn't get a review up on Monday. I was going to get up and write it early Monday morning, but, uh, that didn't happen. There WILL be a review on Friday, and it shall be for Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater. Because, in case you hadn't noticed, I don't always read books as soon as they come out (which explains why I won't be completing the 2011 DAC, oh well).

I like to mix things up: genre, age group, release date. I like to read books that I never got to read growing up as well as books I never got around to. For example, my upcoming reviews include Shiver, How to Train Your Dragon, Stuart Little, and Fracture. Things to look forward to. :)

I was also planning on getting all of my reviews written and scheduled today, but I've had a massive headache since last night, so I'm not sure if I'll get to it since writing this is making my head throb as it is. Granted that could also be the Chopin I'm listening to, but that's never given me a headache before so I'm inclined to believe it's the computer.

Writing-wise, things are going pretty well on PiP. I haven't made loads of progress but I have made progress, and every little bit counts. I believe the current count is 55 double spaced pages and a little over 15,000 words. Which, sadly will probably be 1/2-1/3 of the first draft. The final draft should be at least 60k. I'm one of the (apparently) few writers who have to go back and flush things out rather than cut like crazy and replace. And I already know what I'll be doing to make everything grow, so I know I'll be adding a lot in draft 2. Do any of you write like this?

The Sandman's Apprentice is just sitting around right now. I guess you could say it's in limbo. Hopefully I'll have a reader for it soon so that I can finish these freaking edits and get it in the hands of agents. I wanted to have it ready for Christmas, but that's looking more and more less likely at the moment. *dramatic sigh*

Anywho, that's what I've been up to (other than holiday schtuff). How are all of you? Reading anything good? Did you finish NaNo if you were participating? Have you made any progress on your WIPs? Are you still waddling from food intake over the holidays? Do tell. :)

No waddling here! Never read the book, but How to Train Your Dragon the movie was awesome.

I LOVE the movie. The book is actually pretty different, but it's still super cute. :)

I love Shiver! And Linger and Forever! I'm excited to see your review :) You should also check out The Scorpio Races by Maggie, I read that recently and thought it was fantastic and SO unique.

Everything by Maggie is on my TBR list haha. Been wanting to read them for so long and absolutely LOVE the premise for Scorpio Races! :)

HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON, both movie and book, are very entertaining. It is illuminating how the movie writers differed it from the book to give it more of a cinematic edge and challenge to resolve. Have a great December, Roland
